Compared with conventional shell-and-tube heat exchangers, its heat transfer coefficient is much higher under the same flow resistance and pump power consumption, and there is a trend to replace Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger in the applicable range.

A wall heat exchanger with a plate forming a heat transfer surface. This type of heat exchanger has a compact structure and a large heat transfer area per unit volume. The main types are:
The spiral plate heat exchanger is made of two parallel metal plates that adhere to a certain distance, and the cold and hot fluids flow in the spiral channel on both sides of the metal plate respectively. The heat exchanger has a high heat transfer coefficient (about 1 to 4 times higher than the shell and tube heat exchanger), the average temperature difference is large (because cold and hot fluids can be completely countercurrent flow), the flow resistance is small, and it is not easy to scale; But repairs are difficult. ② The plate heat exchanger is composed of a corrugated sheet of a certain shape and a sealing gasket, and is assembled with a frame clamping. The cold and hot fluids flow through the flow channels on both sides of the corrugated plate respectively, and the heat is exchanged through the plate. Corrugated plates are generally made of stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, molybdenum and other thin sheets with a thickness of 0.5 ~ 3mm. The advantage of the plate heat exchanger is that the heat transfer coefficient is high (about 2 to 4 times higher than the shell heat exchanger), it is easy to disassemble and wash, and the heat transfer area can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of plates. The plate-fin heat exchanger is composed of a heat exchange plate bundle closed in a collector box with a cold and hot fluid inlet and outlet. The plate bundle is composed of a flat plate and a corrugated fin, and is brazed and fixed. Cold and hot fluids flow through both sides of the plate to exchange heat, the fin increases the heat transfer area, promotes the turbulence of the fluid, and enhances the equipment. The plate-fin heat exchanger has a very compact structure (heat exchange area of 4400m2/m3), good heat transfer effect, and the use pressure can reach 15MPa. However, its production process is messy, the flow path is small, and the internal leakage is not easy to repair, so it is limited to clean non-corrosive fluids, such as heat exchangers for air separation.

b. Hvac: Central heat exchangers for cooperative boilers, central heat exchangers for high-rise buildings, etc.
c. Chemical industry: soda ash industry, ammonia composition, alcohol fermentation, resin composition cooling, etc.
d. Metallurgical industry: aluminate mother liquor heating or cooling, steelmaking process cooling, etc.
e. Machinery industry: all kinds of quenching liquid cooling, reducer lubricating oil cooling, etc.
f. Power industry: high voltage transformer oil cooling, generator bearing oil cooling, etc.
g. Paper industry: hot recovery of bleaching process, heating washing slurry, etc.
h. Textile industry: viscose silk alkali solution cooling, joy nitrocellulose cooling, etc.
i. Food industry: juice sterilization and cooling, animal and vegetable oil heating and cooling, etc.
j. Grease process: soap based atmospheric pressure drying, heating or cooling of various process fluids.
k. Central heating: thermal power plant waste heat district heating, heating bath water.

l. Other: petroleum, medicine, shipping, seawater desalination, geothermal utilization.
